Influenced by Rodin, whose work appears to be breaking out of the stone from which it is carved, Jennine Parker allows her highly polished, elongated figures to emerge almost organically from a rough-hewn base, establishing a connection both between the figures themselves, and between human life and mother earth. The juxtaposition of smooth and textured surfaces amongst her curves and shapes gives this pure bronze sculpture a strong sense of authenticity and personality and renders it as stimulating to the touch as to the sight.
